NATO Protect the Future

In October 2022, I was asked by NATO to participate in their first graphic novel project, a global collaboration featuring artists from different NATO countries. Each country was represented by a double page spread on a topic voted for by the young people of that country. The UK's topic was Women, Peace and Security.

In my research for this topic, I found that the educational opportunities available to girls in childhood were strongly linked to that girl's chances of escaping poverty in adulthood, and also to her chances of experiencing domestic violence. So for the main illustration below, my angle was to present education as a light and hope in the dark for young girls growing up in disadvantageous circumstances, and as a path to a better life.
